Wilkinsburg is home to a patchwork quilt of non-profit organizations who serve our residents and others beyond the community. Below is partial list of non-profits in Wilkinsburg. Boys and Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for youth, with particular emphasis on members who live in urban communities of highly diverse cultures. The primary mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania is to promote health, social, educational, vocational and character development for boys and girls ages 6 through 18, by self-esteem, values, and skills.

Wilkinsburg Community Development Corporation

Located at 1001 Wood Street, the WCDC is a registered non-profit corporation, working in partnership with the business community, property owners, and residents of Wilkinsburg to foster economic development and improve the Wilkinsburg business corridor and quality of life within its boundaries. The WCDC was founded in 2007 and is the community applicant for the Neighborhood Partnership Program, an initiative of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) and TriState Capital Bank.

Hosanna House

The Hosanna House is a multi-purpose community center which serves over 27,000 people a year. They impact youth, families and individuals with quality health and human services. Hosanna House provides a variety of services and programs that include: early childhood education, youth recreation, tutoring and mentoring, youth and adult technology, men’s services, workforce development, health and dental care, and permanent supportive housing.

LifeCare Hospitals of Pittsburgh

Like all LifeCare Hospitals, LifeCare Hospitals of Pittsburgh specializes in the treatment of medically complex patients who require extended hospitalization, typically for more than 25 days. LifeCare is passionate about giving patients the best chance at recovery from acute injury or illness by providing early and aggressive intervention in a critical care setting. LifeCare's treatment team includes physicians, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists and therapists across a range of disciplines—physical, speech, occupational, respiratory, recreational and psychological therapy—to speed physical, emotional and spiritual recovery.


Milestone is a private, nonprofit community mental health and mental retardation agency serving the needs of residents in western Pennsylvania. Our agency offers confidential counseling, rehabilitation and training, information and referral services, consultation, education and prevention services, developmental activities programs, and much more.

Three Rivers Center for Independent Living

Three Rivers Center for Independent Living (TRCIL) is a non-residential, non-profit, community-based human service agency. Its purpose is to enable people with disabilities to lead self-directed and productive lives within the community. TRCIL believes that each person with a disability should be empowered to function at their highest achievable level of independence. This is accomplished through a combination of systems change, individual advocacy, and provision of direct services. TRCIL believes in the principles of consumer control, consumer choice, equal access, and equal opportunity for all people with disabilities, regardless of diagnosis or age.

Addison Behavioral Care, Inc.

Addison Behavioral Care, Inc. is a multi-faceted community organization with 27 years of dedication and community-involvement that focuses on improving the quality of life for all individuals that we serve; specializing in substance abuse prevention, intervention, and treatment. For 27 years, our vision has been to live in a world where all individuals, families, and communities are healthy, safe, and prosperous. We are excited to offer our services to the residents and neighbors of the Wilkinsburg area.

Pittsburgh Housing Development Association, Inc.

PHDA empowers low and moderate income families who dream of owning a home - through education, by helping them qualify for first-time homebuyer assistance, and by linking them to community resources. Bringing together concerned individuals, corporations, churches and government entities, we believe that helping families buy and maintain their first home is a first step to renewing neighborhoods.

Nine Mile Watershed Association, Inc.

The Nine Mile Run Watershed is a small urban watershed located in Pittsburgh's East End. Covering just 6.5 square miles, the watershed is home to numerous exciting initiatives, including the largest urban stream restoration in the United States completed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Nine Mile Run Watershed Association complements this amazing physical transformation with a variety of innovative urban ecology projects designed to directly involve the community in helping to improve the health of the watershed.

MAD DADS of Greater Pittsburgh

Based in Wilkinsburg, M.A.D.D.A.D.S. of Greater Pittsburgh seeks out, encourages, motivates and guides committed men in the struggle to save children, communities and ourselves from the social ills that presently plague neighborhoods. M.A.D.D.A.D.S. stands for Men Against Destruction - Defending Against Drugs And Social Disorder.

Community LIFE

Community LIFE provides older adults with worry-free, fully integrated and coordinated health and social services, usually at no cost to qualified individuals.Qualifying participants in the Community LIFE program are transported to their day health center on an as-needed basis, to receive healthcare and social services, meals and to participate in various activities. Additional services are also available for participants in their homes.

Wilkinsburg Community Ministry 

The Wilkinsburg Community Ministry (WCM), a non-profit addressing food and related poverty and housing insecurity in Wilkinsburg PA.  Founded in 1968, WCM currently offers an array of services to the hungry and the neediest residents of Wilkinsburg.  This summer WCM will provide over 3000 meals for Wilkinsburg’s children participating in various programs throughout the community.  Throughout the year, WCM provides meals for Boys and Girls Club participants, Codename Saturday, PLEA, and a variety of children’s programs.  Warm Hearts recruits knitters and crocheters to make hats, mittens and scarves that are distributed through the Wilkinsburg schools.  WCM also offers an emergency food pantry, and weekly food programs supported by donations from local churches and business.  Located at 702/704 Wood Street, the hours are 9-1 M-F, except Holidays.

Public Forum for Wilkinsburg Gateway Sign

A public forum to share the finalist designs for the new Wilkinsburg Gateway sign will be held on Thursday, February 16th at 6PM in the 2nd floor Council Chambers at the Borough Building. All are welcome.
